If you are less technically inclined, consider using software that is built on Wine, such as WineBottler (free), PlayOnMac (free) or Crossover (not free). I personally prefer Wine, and it runs at full speed.
Whether you choose a virtual machine or Wine is up to you. It becomes sharper after a few seconds though, and then sometimes goes back to being blurry. For example, sometimes the text is blurry in multiplayer and you can't read it. There are some bugs here and there in the Wine version. It is an alternate environment for Windows executables to run natively on Mac or Linux. Wine actually stands for 'Wine is not an emulator'. It is important to note that Wine and a virtual machine are very different technologies. Fellow Mac owners, fear not: PPT runs perfectly in a virtual machine, even with the minimum system requirements.
